Young Professionals

The Young Professionals (YPs) programme is the flagship capacity building programme of the Institute. It targets officers in the public and private sectors. Every year, the Institute recruits ten to twelve officers from the government and private sector for the one-tear training programme. During the programme, the officers undergo rigorous training in public policy analysis and formulation through hands-on training. The courses offered include: public policy process, research methodology, applied econometrics, macroeconomic modelling, and structure of government. The Young Professionals actively participate in all the activities of the Institute, and write a research paper on a selected policy issue as a requirement for graduation. Upon graduation, Young Professionals return to their duty stations where they are expected to play a key role in policy formulation. Since 2003 when the programme started, 65 officers have been trained through this programme, which has had a huge impact in policy development in the country.
