SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT:
The Project is entitled “Promoting women’s
participation in the management, monitoring and evaluation of
decentralized funds in Bondo district” and aims to promote
the participation of women in the management, monitoring and evaluation
of decentralized funds. This will instill accountability in the
management of the funds to ensure realization of gender equity
in utilization of these funds as a human rights issue. Key activities
to be undertaken during the pilot project include:
- Conduct a needs assessment
in the district to assess levels of participation.
- Enhance capacity of paralegals
to participate and monitor decentralized funds through training,
- Develop a monitoring scorecard;
- Develop message audiotapes
to be used by paralegals in their radio listening groups
to increase awareness and stimulate debate on specific issues
related to decentralized funds;
- Obtain information on best
practices from other pilot projects on decentralized funds
and share them with women and the various committees in
Bondo district.
The target funds include: the Constituency Development
Fund, (CDF), The Local Authority Transfer Fund (LATF), and the
Constituency Bursary. By the end of the implementing period, the
League envisions a culture where women’s capacity to participate
in the management of the decentralized funds is fully utilized
and also ensuring that accountability in the management of these
funds is upheld.
