Website launched for EfD, Environment for Development initiative!

The overall objective of the Environment for Development initiative (EfD) is to support poverty alleviation and sustainable development through the increased use of environmental economics in policy making processes.

Research: The main activity of the EfD initiative is international research collaboration on poverty-environment issues. Our research is presented by theme and by the respective centers in China, Central America, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa, Sweden and Tanzania. By clicking on this link you can find can find our publications, our projects and presentations of all researchers within our network.

Policy making
: The EfD research fellows focus on issues of real concern for policy making bodies, and strive to develop knowledge that is research-based and relevant for policy planning and implementation in developing countries. By clicking on this link you can find information on the policy work of each center and of the Sida Helpdesk for Environmental Economics.

Academic training
: Academic training is fundamental for domestic capacity in environmental economics. The EfD initiative supports national graduate programs in environmental economics at all EfD centers.

Ways to use the website: Depending on your specific interest, our Publications and Projects can be filtered out by Themes or by Centers using the Filter Content box on the site. You can also use an RSS service to get continuous information about newly posted material on the EfD website.

The Environment for Development initiative is a program focused on international research collaboration, policy advice and academic training in environmental economics.
It supports centers at universities and policy research institutes in Central America, China, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa and Tanzania in partnership with the Environmental Economics Unit at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden and Resources for the Future in Washington DC, USA.
Financial support for the program is provided by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
