| Introduction
The role of the KIPPRA Documentation and Information Centre
(KIPDOC) is to select, acquire and process information in order
to support the research and policy analysis activities of the Institute.
The main activities are:
- Library development and maintenance: selection, acquisition
and processing of documents, data base management, information
searching and retrieval.
- Editing, design, printing, sale and distribution of KIPPRA
publications.
- Maintaining and updating the KIPPRA website.
Goal
The goal of KIPDOC is to cater for information needs of researchers
by providing up-to- date research information in the form of printed
materials, electronic information searches from the internet and
CD-ROMs. Collection development is mainly in economics and policy
analysis.
Holdings
KIPDOC holdings comprise mainly research reports, major
international reports, government publications, books, journals
and journal articles.The Centre maintains two bibliographic databases:
KIPDOC for books and KIPPER for periodicals.
Publicationss
The Documentation and Information Centre also manages the
publication and distribution of all KIPPRA publications. These
fall under the following series titles:

Users
The Centre serves KIPPRA's research staff, government
departments, policy makers, visiting researchers, staff of collaborating
institutions, scholars and students of local universities.
Cooperation and Networking
The Centre collaborates with a number of libraries and
resource centres. These include the World Bank Library, Institute
of Policy Analysis and Research (IPAR), African Economic Research
Consortium (AERC), Institute of Development Studies of the University
of Nairobi, and the United Nations Library in Nairobi.
